Family-friendly getaways are always a great time, and since you don’t have to worry about who will look after your pets while you’re gone (wink wink), we’re sharing our favourite spots for you to enjoy! Samford Pet Resort is proud to put your mind at ease if you want to get away with the family and know that your fur babies are in safe hands.
Okay, so here it is… our top five family-friendly Brisbane getaways:
Girraween National Park
If travelling is your jam, Girraween National Park is the hot spot. It’s located about 260km from Brisbane, but even the drive out there itself is extremely scenic and breathtaking. The Main Range National Park is a national wonder and one that needs to be seen to be believed. Once you arrive, you can relax with the family at the campsite, take bushwalks or if wildlife spotting is more your ticket, there is an abundance of native fauna to feast your eyes on. During summer, the water hole is a hot spot for the kids to play in while you sit back and relax.
Believe it or not, Fraser Island is actually the largest sand island in the world. It’s also listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, meaning that it will be here to be enjoyed for many years to come. Being that it’s quite close to Brisbane, a quick family getaway is easily planned! The island boasts impressive rainforests and its world famous sandy beaches, ensuring the whole family is bound to have lots of fun. Booking in your fur babies with us is probably a good idea, as dingoes are known to cause problems on the island and often carry diseases.
If camping isn’t quite your tempo, the Gold Coast offers a range of fun, family-friendly activities from theme parks to beautiful national parks. Springbrook, which is located close by, offers incredible bush walks through the rainforests for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t want to drive inland to Springbrook? How about a scenic coastal cycle along the water’s edge instead?
Lamington National Park
This national park is full of beautifully quaint farms, scenic mountain views and crystal-clear rivers to explore. If you often go to the beach for holidays, this might be the perfect retreat for you and the family this time around. Organising a picnic overlooking gorgeous river spots or take a quick dip in Christmas Creek or Albert River. If fishing or horse riding is something that really appeals to you, Lamington National Park is the place for you.
This is a relatively unknown spot for families that want to relax and have a lot of fun. If you and your family love active holidays, Bongaree has an amazing skate park with an adjacent beach-side area for smaller children. The beaches located at Bribie are exceptionally nice and relatively calm which makes a great family getaway spot for those introducing the little ones to ocean water.
