Dog obedience training helps to strengthen your bond and communication with your dog, even in the face of distractions.
This course is for dogs from 5 months old, with no upper age limit. It continues the socialisation experience for your dog, and will assist you in maintaining the leadership role in your relationship. If your dog has specific behavioural problems, such as problem barking, separation anxiety and so on, we recommend a private in-home dog training session before undertaking group obedience training.Learn More
Puppy time is a crucial stage of a dog’s development.
Allowing puppies to socialise with other dogs will ensure they are happier, healthier, and more obedient pets. Our puppy training classes are for puppies from 8 to 18 weeks of age. It’s a four week course, one hour a week. During the course, your new best friend is exposed to all the basic puppy obedience exercises such as: sit, drop, come when called, and leash manners.
There is also a major focus on common behavioural issues to make sure your puppy starts life on the right track, such as the all important: toilet training, chewing, problem barking, jumping up, and basic good manners.Learn More
Our dog training programs are provided by Michelle at Jordan Dog Training.
Despite her young age, Michelle has worked in the animal industry for more than 20 years after her family undertook guardianship of the Tea Tree Gully Boarding Kennels & Cattery in South Australia. A number of years down the track and following a move to Queensland, Michelle’s experience was recognised formally with Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services and Dog Training being earned alongside employment at the award-winning Samford Pet Resort.
Following receipt of her industry qualifications, Michelle continued on to earn her Certificate III in Small Business Management and eventually start her own business, cleverly named Ultimutts Dog Training. Michelle successfully ran Puppy School and Dog Training at multiple venues on Brisbane’s Northside, as well as helping clients that had dogs with all kinds of behavioural issues before jumping at the chance to join the team at the industry-lauded Jordan Dog Training.
Michelle’s favourite part about animal training (and people training) is seeing both the pet and the handler progress session-by-session until they ultimately learn to work as a team. Excitement and pride at Michelle’s end are hard to hide when class members are able to nail the exercise they’ve been practicing for weeks.
Undeniably, Michelle has always had a passion for dogs and the workings of their minds, with her first taste of dog training coming by joining her parents with their Bloodhounds in the Show ring. It was, however, not until Michelle adopted her 7-year-old Australian Shepherd, Neo, that she knew dog training was where her future lay.
Neo has now moved on and is running amok over the Rainbow Bridge, and Michelle shares her life with 6 (yes, six!) dogs who keep her on her toes and make her smile every day.
