Brisbane's Best Dog and Cat Lover Groups

Brisbane’s Best Dog and Cat Lover Groups
June 7, 2018 Samford Pet Resort

So you want to meet some local Brisbanites who share your love for dogs and cats? Well, you’ve come to the right place! At Samford Pet Resort and Northshore Pet Resort, we love providing a safe and caring environment for dogs and cats. But more than that, we love the Brisbane pet lover’s community! There are so many amazing ways to connect with like-minded people and share your funny pet stories, ask for behavioural advice, and arrange play dates with other cats and dogs.

But one thing that we think Brisbane does really well is dog and cat lover groups. From pet hiking collectives to ‘wine and walk’ groups, here are just a few of our favourites.

1. Hiking with Doggos and Puppers (Brisbane and Gold Coast)

What’s better than hiking through peaceful bushlands and picturesque mountains? Hiking with a group of cute dogs and other friendly humans, of course. The Hiking with Doggos and Puppers group regularly meet to walk pet-friendly trails in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. Upcoming meetups include hiking around Mt Cotton, walking along Currumbin Creek (where your dogs can swim), strolling around Karawatha Forest, and even attempting a four-hour hike up some pretty gruelling hills near Moggill Reserve.

2. Brisbane Dog Lovers

If you’re the type of person that enjoys coffee and brunch with adorable dogs, you’ll love the Brisbane Dog Lovers group. Meet with other Brisbane dog owners and chat about sweet doggy things over lattes and croissants, or take a stroll through New Farm park and wander through the Jan Powers Markets on a Saturday. Past meetups have also included a day out at the dog-friendly Green Heart Fair in Carindale and enjoying food trucks and pet stalls at the RSPCA Big Adopt Out.

3. Brisbane Crazy About Cats Meetup

Meet up with other cat-loving humans at the Brisbane Crazy About Cats Meetup and show off your darling cat photos to people who won’t yawn. The motto of this group is “crazy cat person should be a badge of honour that you can wear with pride”. They like to meet at the Cat Cuddle Cafe, Australia’s first cat cafe run by a rescue organisation. The best part? Next door to the cafe is the Animal Rescue Support Network op shop. So you can talk about cats, drink coffee and shop sustainably together. What else do you need in life?

4. Wine and Walks! (Sunshine Coast)

If you’re looking for some activities to do with your pooch during the week, and don’t mind an hour’s drive up the coast, why not catch up with the Wine and Walks group in Maroochydore, Buderim or Mooloolaba? With the busy lives we lead, sometimes all you need to do is get away for an afternoon and play with your pup on a pristine beach. Open to people of all ages and walking abilities, this group is the perfect place to unwind and de-stress. As the name suggests, the group also like to enjoy a glass of wine (or two) together after their walks.

5. We Love Goldens

Are you the proud owner of a Golden Retriever? The We Love Goldens Brisbane Meetup welcomes all Golden Retrievers and their humans to meet up and play. They host regular social activities on the weekend, including both on-leash and off-leash walks, and doggy dates in local parks. The group also enjoy coffee and breakfast together after their walks. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning if you ask us!
